The finished portrait came from lots of early morning drawings I did of Brian and The Beach boys which are a drifting obsession for me. Growing up with their early surf period songs as a child then in the early 1990's discovering their Holland, Surf's Up and post surf records, in particular Holland on cassette in my local library in Cardiff.
This Brian Wilson depicts him in 1976 in the period between the band's Holland and 15 Big Ones albums. His post 2 and half years in bed era and pre Dr Eugene Landy period. Brian looks happy here as he lets out a chuckle.
