Hi all.

last year I undertook a period of research in the Black Mountains, and produced Peak’s commission for the Horsebox Studio at Green Man Festival 2017. Peak is an arts organisation based in the Black Mountains that works creatively with professional artists and communities, responding to the rural environment.

The result was Totemic – a series of prints, paintings and sculptures featuring designs of mythical beasts inspired by the Black Mountains. They embody the unique characteristics of the Brecon Beacons, from folklore to flora and fauna.

I have 7 acrylic paintings on wood for sale on my shop from the exhibition, that range from 9.5cm x 8.5cm to 21.5cm x 14cm. All signed, dated and titled on the reverse of each piece.

The paintings will be going live on my shop on Thursday the 25th October at 6pm GMT.

Alongside the paintings, Peak have 4 A3 giclee prints now available directly from Peak’s online shop.

Introducing: Table Mountain Shaman; River Nymph; Canal Hydrus and the Alder Wood Sprite.

Printed on A3 giclee, 310 gsm, 100% cotton bright white paper. Order today and your print will be sent to you within 5 working days. There’s a limited number of each design in stock so hurry and get them while you can.

All proceeds of print sales will go towards funding Peak’s children and young people programme. Peak’s aim is to increase opportunities for children and young people to engage in activities across all strands of their artistic programme. You can see more of the work they do with children and young people on their website.

Inspired by the Totemic pieces, we held a weekend of celebratory creative workshops at the Peak studio for families to create and develop their very own artwork and poetry, and eventually construct a totem pole. You can see the impact of this project in our short video below, filmed by Eleanor Paish.

I also recreated a large-scale Alder Sprite in the Alder Woods of Llangattock, a piece of land owned by a local group of volunteers. Watch the progress in this time-lapse video.
